WHAT IS HOME

What makes a place home? Is it the people, the language, familiar landscapes, or the memories we carry with us?

In my series What is Home?, I explore home as an inner place that changes throughout our lives. The starting point is my own experience: growing up in Burgas on the Black Sea and living in Vienna, where I moved in 1992. Both places are part of me. They shape how I see the world and my sense of belonging.

In my works, writing, colour, and texture come together. Written traces lose their legibility and become lines and forms. I am interested in what remains of a story when its words can no longer be deciphered, a gesture, a trace, a feeling of familiarity.

What is Home? leaves the question of home open. The series speaks of leaving and arriving, of longing, and of what stays with us as our lives change.
